Intensifying the evacuation process of Mount Marapi climbers and identifying the deceased, West Sumatra Police has established Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Post. “The DVI Post would focus on identifying the deceased due to the possibility of them being damaged due to the ash,” says West Sumatra Police Doctor Sub-directorate chief, Dr. Eka Purnama Sari on Monday (12/4/2023). She explains that in the DVI post, official would gather the antemortem data, families then could come to the post and provide the characteristics of the victim to be matched at the Antemortem Command Post which was determined to be at the Achmad Mochtar Hospital (RSAM) Bukittinggi. She also states the data collection would be detailed with DNA samples, matching the identity data of the victim's ID card, diploma, photo or property before climbing Mount Marapi. Currently there are 20 more people have given the reports of their missing loved ones. (ad/ri/pr/nm)
