inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the decision regarding the work-from-home (WFH) policy has been made and will be announced soon.

Purbaya emphasized that although the decision is final, he will not be the one to announce the policy to the public.

"It's been decided, it will be announced later. It's not me who said it, it won't be me neither who will announce it, it will be the Coordinating Minister for the Economy (Airlangga Hartarto)," Purbaya said in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/25/2026).

Responding to the government's target that the WFH policy would reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent, Purbaya acknowledged that calculations predict a decrease in consumption, although they are not yet definitive.

He emphasized that the impact of the WFH policy cannot be viewed solely from one perspective.

He believes that increased economic activity has the potential to boost state revenue. This increase in economic activity will have a positive impact on businesses and ultimately increase tax revenue.

"In my opinion, it might not be there, because the economy is actively increasing, businesses are growing rapidly, and consumption is increasing. But if my taxes also increase, I will benefit accordingly," he said.

Furthermore, the State Treasurer emphasized that the government's approach to assessing the impact of the policy is comprehensive.

Regarding the plan to implement WFH on Fridays, as announced by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Purbaya believes that the day was chosen to minimize the impact on productivity.

"If there's a holiday, the one chosen will have the least impact on productivity. Friday has the shortest working hours. So the loss to productivity is considered the smallest," he added.

However, he could not confirm whether the policy would be mandatory for the private sector.
