Inp.polri.go.id - Tabanan. Around 15,000 Hindu worshippers from five villages in Kediri District, Tabanan, Bali, gathered at Tanah Lot on Wednesday (26/3/2025) for the Melasti purification ceremony ahead of Nyepi, the Day of Silence.
"This is the peak of the Melasti celebration at Tanah Lot, with participants from five villages," said Wayan Sanjaya Tampi, the Head of Promotion and Development at the Tanah Lot tourist site, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Melasti, a significant Hindu ritual, also attracted tourists.
"The ceremony enhances Tanah Lot’s appeal as visitors can witness this sacred tradition firsthand," Wayan added.
Security measures are in place for Nyepi and Muslim’s Eid al-Fitr, with 350 officers deployed across Tabanan, including five checkpoint posts.
Police advise travelers to avoid traffic congestion on 29 March 2025, when all activities, including at Tanah Lot, will be halted for Nyepi.
