inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police seized 7.9 kilograms of methamphetamine that was intended to be smuggled into Java via Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, on Monday (1/12/2026).
"The perpetrators attempted to smuggle the methamphetamine via BIM. According to their statements, they were going to take it to Java," said West Sumatra Regional Police Vice Chief Brigadier General Solihin on Tuesday (2/10/2026).
Solihin stated that the four perpetrators are currently undergoing legal proceedings for their actions, and the case is being handled by the Padang Pariaman Sub-regional Police.
The methamphetamine evidence was immediately destroyed after receiving the court's ruling. The destruction took place in the yard of the West Sumatra Regional Police Office.
Solihin explained that the case was solved thanks to coordination with Aviation Security (Avsec) officers from BIM, who were observant during the X-ray inspection and noticed the suspects' suspicious behavior.
Meanwhile, Padang Pariaman Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Faisol Amir, explained that four perpetrators have been named as suspects.
The suspects are identified as KSG (30), a resident of Langsa City; AS (27), a resident of Aceh Tamiang; RA (22), a resident of North Aceh; and M (22), a resident of East Aceh.
They are suspected of transporting the methamphetamine from Aceh by land before attempting to continue their flight from BIM to Java.
Faisol explained that the perpetrators' modus operandi was to place the prohibited items in suitcases and then wrap them in aluminum foil, hoping they would not be detected by scanners.
However, the perpetrators' hopes were dashed when AVSEC officers detected the suspicious items and immediately coordinated with law enforcement.
