inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Banten Regional Police prepares traffic engineering to face the 2025 Christmas and New Year holidays through Operation Lilin Maung 2024.
This step was taken to anticipate travel obstacles, especially due to bad weather that impacts crossings across Java-Sumatra.
Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Suyudi Ario Seto explained that traffic engineering will be implemented flexibly, including temporarily stopping crossings if extreme weather occurs. This policy is carried out through coordination with ASDP Indonesia Ferry and Harbor Master and Port Authority Office (KSOP).
"This has the potential to trigger long queues, even to the toll road," said the Regional Police Chief, Tuesday (17/12/24).
The Banten Regional Police will deploy 4,302 personnel in Operation Lilin Maung 2024, which involved elements of the Banten Provincial Government, TNI-Polri. A total of 51 posts were prepared, consisting of 41 security posts, 9 service posts, and 2 integrated posts.
The Banten Police Traffic Director, Senior Superintendent Leganek Mawardi added that if there is traffic congestion to the toll road, his party will implement a delay system. This system involves filling parking pockets at Merak Port, Indah Kiat, Ciwandan, and BBJ, as well as buffer areas at the KM 43 and KM 68 Tangerang-Merak rest areas while checking passenger tickets.
"If the pier is not functioning due to extreme weather, small vehicles will be directed to West Cilegon towards the southern area of Merak Port, while heavy vehicles will be diverted to East Cilegon and the buffer area at BBJ Port," explained Dirlantas
