Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The British Royal Navy’s HMS Richmond docked in Jakarta on Wednesday to deepen military and cultural cooperation with the Indonesian Navy and regional partners.
“This visit demonstrates the UK’s commitment to building strong and enduring partnerships with Indonesia, and to supporting peace and security across the Indo-Pacific,” said British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey on Wednesday (25/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The visit was a follow-up after discussions between President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London last year, highlighting shared diplomatic, security, and economic priorities.
Commanding Officer Captain Richard Kemp called it “an honor” to return to Indonesia, emphasizing the UK’s interest in exploring further defense and trade cooperation.
HMS Richmond is part of the UK Carrier Strike Group, alongside HMS Prince of Wales and allied vessels, forming a key pillar of Britain’s global defense strategy.
The warship’s stopover coincides with King Charles’ birthday celebrations and Jakarta’s 498th anniversary, and includes an industry day with Indonesian companies.
