Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin revealed on Tuesday (11/3/2025) that former Indonesian Miitary (TNI) soldier Eko Sugiono, arrested in Soribo Village, Manokwari, West Papua, had a concealed bunker containing firearms and ammunition.
The bunker, sealed with cement and covered in tiles, housed two short-barreled firearms, 1,147 rounds of ammunition, and firearm components, according to antaranews.com.
"Eko and Yuni Enumbi knew each other from their time at the Kasuari Military Command before being discharged from the military," Chief Patrige said.
Investigations uncovered that Eko introduced Yuni to a suspect arrested in Bojonegoro, East Java. Yuni allegedly obtained firearms and ammunition from another suspect, identified as Teguh, who packed and shipped them to Jayapura via sea freight.
Authorities seized 982 rounds of ammunition and firearm-making equipment from Teguh. Eko also admitted to storing four more firearms at a residence in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
Police continue investigating the network supplying weapons to armed groups in Papua.
