Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Newly-inaugurated Director General of Customs Djaka Budi Utama will involve the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) to strengthen anti-smuggling efforts and to close revenue gaps caused by illegal trade through unregulated ports.
"We must coordinate with TNI and Polri to ensure smuggling is minimized, helping meet state revenue targets," he said on Friday (23/5/2025).
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, who appointed him, emphasized that his presence should improve interagency coordination. She urged stronger collaboration across ministries to secure both tax and non-tax revenues.
Minister Sri Mulyani also acknowledged public concerns over the customs system, noting the need to improve both performance and public trust.
"The public wants more revenue, but hesitates to pay taxes—this contradiction must be managed," she said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Djaka replaces Askolani and is expected to lead efforts to boost enforcement and restore the image of the Customs Directorate.
