inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. National Police Commission (Kompolnas) member Choirul Anam assessed that the Indonesian National Police (INP) need to collaborate with various parties in resolving the root causes of the emergence of thuggery comprehensively.

"One of the intervention strategies for handling thuggery is to answer the root of the problem. In that case, the police cannot stand alone, but must collaborate with various parties," he said, quoted from Antaranews in Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/4/2025).

Anam said that long-term resolution of thuggery cases is not sufficient with a legal approach.

According to him, a special approach is needed that is implemented comprehensively.

Therefore, Anam assessed that handling thuggery needs to be carried out collaboratively between the police and all parties, starting from the regional government to the central government.

In addition, the community also has an important role as part of social control in efforts to combat thuggery.

Previously, INP emphasized its commitment to handling the problem of thuggery in the country until it is resolved.

Inspector General Supervision of INP, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo said that police personnel from the central HQ to small police station will not stop working in preventing and handling the problem of thuggery.

"Systematic operations will continue to be strengthened in order to create a sustainable security ecosystem according to the expectations of the community," said Dedi.

INP have been holding simultaneous regional police operations since May 1, 2025 in order to eradicate acts of thuggery.

This operation was carried out based on the Chief of Police's Telegram Letter Number STR/1081/IV/OPS.1.3./2025 which ordered all ranks of the regional police and police to enforce the law supported by intelligence, preemptive, and preventive measures.
