Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Arfinsasi Putra, a 29-year-old doctor of Bugis-Papuan descent, has chosen to serve as both a physician and a police officer after witnessing the challenges of healthcare in Papua’s highlands.

Limited access, facilities, and services shaped his decision to contribute through law enforcement.

His experience includes an internship at the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Bhayangkara Hospital in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, from February 2022 to February 2023. The program deepened his understanding of a doctor’s role within the police force.

“I always aspired to be a police officer. My internship at Bhayangkara Hospital made me realize how vital doctors are in the police environment,” said Arfin, born on 14 September 1995, at the Police Academy Complex in Semarang over the weekend.

After earning his medical degree from Cenderawasih University in Jayapura, he served at Oksibil Regional Hospital in Papua’s highlands. Inspired by his work, he pursued the Police Inspector School for Specialist Graduates (SIPSS) and passed.

Although not a indigenous Papuan, Arfin sees himself as part of the region.

“I want to return and serve in Papua as a police doctor,” he said.
