Inp.polri.go.id - Sidoarjo. East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto reminded officers that the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) holds a strategic role in handling disasters across the province.
“East Java Police’s Brimob P also has a strategic role in tackling disasters such as floods and landslides in several regions,” je said during the 80th Brimob Anniversary ceremony in Sidoarjo on Friday (14/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He emphasized that Brimob’s rapid response in humanitarian operations directly benefits affected communities. Chief Nanang called for stronger coordination with BMKG, BPBD, and Basarnas to enhance preparedness amid increasing disaster potential in East Java.
He also highlighted Brimob’s central role in major security operations, from the 2024 elections to large-scale protests. He warned that future threats, from post-election instability to terrorism and radicalization, require precision and continuous capability strengthening, including bomb disposal, counterterrorism, search and rescue operations, and humanistic crowd control.
He urged Brimob personnel to maintain integrity, discipline, wise social media use, and avoid arrogance that could erode public trust.
Brimob East Java Commander Senior Superintendent Suryo Sudarmadi said readiness will be boosted, with 30 specialized officers deployed in each of the 14 Pelopor (pioneer) battalions for disaster response.
