Inp.polri.go.id - Malang. The East Java Regional Police and Malang City Sub-regional Police intercepted the distribution of 166.58 kilograms of cannabis linked to an interprovincial drug network.

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto announced Tuesday (3/12/2024) that six suspects—identified as CRZ, ADB, AJ, DIK, SUK, and RID—were arrested during the operation.

The investigation began with the arrest of CRZ and ADB at a boarding house in Malang’s Klojen District on 11 September 2024. Officers seized 3 kilograms of cannabis during the raid. Shortly after, AJ was arrested in possession of 79.55 grams of cannabis.

Further investigation revealed a large shipment of cannabis originating from Medan, North Sumatra, destined for Malang and Jakarta. Police intercepted 36.2 kilograms of the drug and arrested three more suspects—DIK, RID, and SUK—in Karangploso, Malang regency. 

A follow-up search uncovered an additional 127.3 kilograms stored in a house and a truck, according to antaranews.com.

The suspects face charges under ItheNarcotics Law, which carries penalties of up to life imprisonment or the death penalty, along with fines of up to Rp 10 billion.
