inp.polri.go.id - East Jakarta. Fire broke out again in a densely populated settlement in Kebon Manggis, Matraman, East Jakarta, on Friday (12/6/2024).
From the incident, 10 houses were burned down by the fire. The temporary suspicion is that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
"For now, it is suspected to be due to an electrical short circuit. However, it is still under investigation," said the officer on duty from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-dept., Sonar Sinurat at the fire location in Matraman.
Sonar Sinurat explained that his party had cooled the fire location considering that they still found a number of smoke points. As of around 02.30 WIB in the morning, the situation was monitored to have begun to be controlled and the fire brigade team had left the location.
He also said that until now his party has not received any reports regarding the possibility of fatalities or injuries due to the fire in Matraman. However, he said that there were quite a lot of houses affected by the fire.
"The affected area is estimated to be around 10 houses, more or less. 420 officers were deployed with 21 units, with the assistance from Central Jakarta of 9 units," he explained.
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has set up refugee tents at the fire location. Many parties are working together to handle the fire.
