Ministry of Public Works Move Fast to Mitigate Disaster Impact in Sukabumi

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Public Works is conducting emergency response efforts due to landslides and floods that have inundated several areas in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo emphasized the commitment of his ministry in handling natural disasters in Sukabumi.

"We continue to prioritize the safety and comfort of the affected community. We will provide full support in handling the impact of floods and landslides in Sukabumi," said Dody on Friday (12/6/2024).

The Public Works Ministry has taken emergency response steps to reduce the impact of the disaster and ensure the safety of the affected community.

Among them through the Citarum River Basin Center (BBWS), including sending 1 PC 200 type excavator unit to support flood management and providing 500 geobag sheets for temporary flood control.

They also carried out intensive coordination with the West Java Provincial PSDA Service, the West Java Provincial Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the sub-districts and villages in the affected locations to ensure integrated handling. Further identification will be carried out to map medium-term handling needs, especially in the Cibuni, Cikaso, and Cimandiri river basins.

Furthermore, related to the handling of roads cut off due to landslides in Sagaranten District, the Ministry of Public Works through the West Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) has provided assistance in the form of 3 portable toilet units, 2 HU units, 1 biodigester toilet unit (biority) and 1 emergency tent unit for 13 displaced families.

The Ministry of Public Works appeals to the public to remain vigilant against the potential for further flooding and to always follow the directions of the authorities. The Ministry of Public Works together with related agencies continues to monitor conditions in the field and ensure that the handling process runs smoothly.
