Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Food Task Force has questioned 22 witnesses in connection with suspected mislabeling and underweight packaging of five-kilogram rice products by multiple producers.
Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf, the Head of the Task Force and the INP’s Criminal Investigation Agency Director of Economic Crimes, confirmed on Tuesday (15/7/2025) that the witnesses include representatives from six companies and eight brand owners.
The investigation aims to determine whether there are violations of food labeling regulations and packaging standards under Indonesian law.
“Today, we summoned an additional 25 owners of packaged rice brands for questioning,” Chief Helfi said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
However, he did not disclose the brand names involved.
The case stems from concerns raised by the Ministry of Agriculture regarding over 200 rice producers allegedly failing to meet required standards for weight and quality.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are reviewing potential criminal violations linked to deceptive practices in the domestic rice trade.
