Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken immediate action in response to sexual harassment allegations made against a diplomat at the Indonesian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, involving a former staff member.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (31/12/2024), it confirmed it is thoroughly investigating the complaint, which was reported by the staff member.

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to addressing the issue seriously and following all legal procedures. It has also provided psychological counseling to the affected individual and is working to gather all necessary facts to resolve the matter, according to antaranews.com.

It reaffirmed its strict adherence to high ethical standards, stressing that any behavior contrary to diplomatic conduct will not be tolerated. Since 2022, the Ministry has implemented guidelines to prevent and address sexual violence within its missions abroad.

The allegations involve Ambassador Usra Hendra Harahap, who is accused of inappropriate physical conduct during a meeting in February 2024. The staff member, whose identity remains confidential, reportedly suffered psychological trauma, leading them to seek professional counseling in Jakarta.
