Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto is attending the 2025 Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD), a three day major regional security summit held in Singapore starting Friday in a bid to strengthen defense ties with Asia-Pacific countries. 

“This summit aims to reinforce solidarity among key defense and security policymakers in the region,” said TNI Headquarters Head of Inforation Center Major General Kristomei Sianturi in a statement on Saturday (31/5/2025).

Held annually by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the SLD provides a platform for senior military leaders and defense ministers to discuss regional and global security issues. Commander Agus is scheduled to meet with several counterparts, including Canada’s Chief of the Defence Staff, General Marrie Annabelle Jennie Carignan.

Kristomei emphasized that such forums offer valuable opportunities for the TNI to expand defense cooperation, ultimately enhancing Indonesia’s bilateral relations and contributing to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 22nd edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue runs with regional security and U.S. trade tariffs among the key topics for strategic discussion and negotiation among participating delegations.
