Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. French Minister for Trade Laurent Saint-Martin raised his optimism about closer cooperation between Indonesia and France in the coming years, following his official visit to Jakarta on 6 to 9 April 2025.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday evening (9/4/2025), he said the visit aimed to discuss the future of the strategic partnership, particularly in energy, transportation, and agriculture. He held meetings with Indonesia’s ministers of transportation, trade, communications and digital affairs, and investment.
“We explored strategic directions for both nations, preparations for the state visit, and several concrete, specific issues,” Minister Saint-Martin said, without elaborating on the details.
He also highlighted potential collaboration in cultural and creative industries, and met with representatives from French companies operating in Indonesia to review ongoing projects, according to antaranews.com.
The visit was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral economic ties ahead of French President Emmanuel Macron’s planned state visit to Indonesia in late May 2025. He was joined by a business delegation and met with Indonesian economic stakeholders, including the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) and creative industry leaders.
