Inp.polri.go.id - Bukittinggi. A fire accompanied by several explosions broke out at a suspected illegal fuel hoarding warehouse in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, on Sunday (18/5/2025)) at around 10 am local time.
The unlicensed facility, surrounded by a three-meter-high corrugated metal fence, was located near residential homes on Jalan Koto Dalam, Tarok Dipo sub-district, Guguak Panjang..
Firefighters found dozens of modified water tanks and scorched fuel drums at the site. The city’s Fire and Rescue Agency deployed nine trucks, with three additional units sent from Agam Regency.
“This is likely due to negligence. It was a fuel hoarding site,” said Dedi Afrianto, the agency’s rescue chief, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Guguak Panjang sub-district head Yelrizon said that they are awaiting official findings from the police. The warehouse has since been extinguished, cooled down, and sealed by the local police
