inp.polri.go.id - West Nusa Tenggara. The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is still trying to find five flood victims who went missing in Nangawera Village, Wera District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The search, which has entered its third day, is focused on rivers and coastal areas, with the support of bloodhounds and heavy equipment.

"We are using the K9 units from the NTB Regional Police and heavy equipment in today's search," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of the Bima Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), M. Nurul Huda on Wednesday (2/5/2025).

Nurul Huda said that the unit deployed bloodhounds because of their ability to detect the smell of corpses, which is expected to speed up the search process. Meanwhile, heavy equipment is used to clear piles of wood and dredge mud at locations suspected of being where the victims are buried.

"Along the river, there are many fallen trees that hinder the search, so heavy equipment is really needed," said Nurul Huda.

Nurul Huda said that until 16.00 WITA, not a single victim had been found. The search process was forced to be temporarily stopped because of the downpour on the area. The SAR team plans to continue the search once the weather improves. Meanwhile, the families of the victims are still waiting with great hope that the victims will be found soon.

"Our main obstacle right now is the weather. Heavy rain has forced the search to be postponed for the safety of the team," he concluded.
