Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of increased rainfall across Indonesia over the next two to three days due to a newly detected tropical cyclone.
Deputy of Meteorology Guswanto said on Thursday (6/2/2025) that Cyclone Vince, previously active in the southern Indian Ocean, has moved away from Indonesia, while Cyclone Tahlia remains active southwest of Cilacap, Central Java.
Although Tahlia is expected to move westward, it may still trigger moderate rain and strong winds in southern Banten to East Java, according to antaranews.com.
Meanwhile, a new tropical cyclone, 92W, has formed in the western Pacific Ocean north of West Papua.
This system is predicted to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to Southwest Papua, West Papua, North Maluku, and North Sulawesi. It is also expected to cause waves up to 2.5 meters in the Maluku Sea, Sangihe-Talaud waters, and northern Halmahera.
BMKG urged coastal communities, fishermen, and maritime operators to remain vigilant for extreme weather and high waves.
Residents near rivers and hills were advised to watch for landslides and flooding, ensure proper drainage and monitor early signs like soil cracks and water seepage.
