Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Immigration and Correction Agus Andrianto confirmed that a Chinese man, who made a video showing Rp 500,000 hidden in his passport before entering Indonesia, has been questioned for clarification.

“It’s not an arrest but a security measure for questioning. We will provide more details later,” he said on Tuesday (21/1/2025).

The investigation revealed the money was meant to pay for a visa on arrival (VoA).

Minister Agus added that the man has previously made similar content abroad, and further inquiries are ongoing.

“We are examining the intent. If it was meant to embarrass the country, Indonesia doesn’t need such people,” he added.

The video, posted by TikTok user @stellaroptics888, showed the individual slipping the money while at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. After public backlash, the video was removed, and the Chinese man apologized, clarifying that the money was for the visa fee and praising Indonesian customs.
