Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has officially approved the Republic of Congo’s accession as a full member of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), marking a significant step in expanding the organization’s global influence.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto signed the approval letter on Wednesday (12/3/2025), alongside parallel signatories from Malaysia, Honduras, and Papua New Guinea, according to antaranews.com.

Congo, with a palm oil plantation area of approximately 340,000 hectares and an annual production of 2.23 million tons of fresh fruit bunches, has committed to developing its palm oil sector sustainably as part of economic diversification.

Previously an observer and guest country, Congo’s full membership strengthens CPOPC’s role in advocating for sustainable palm oil production and addressing trade barriers in the global market.
