Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has evacuated 10 Indonesian citizens from northern Yemen due to ongoing security instability in the region.
“Earlier today, 10 Indonesians we evacuated from Yemen arrived safely,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Indonesian Citizens Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday (22/5/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The evacuees include nine students and one migrant worker, forming part of the government’s first wave of evacuations this year, which is planned in 14 phases. The returnees originate from several Indonesian regions including Banten, Jakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi.
Of the first wave, 14 citizens were involved; 10 returned to Indonesia, while four chose to remain in northern Yemen. The government plans to evacuate a second group of 18 people, mostly women, children, and elderly, following immigration processing by local authorities.
