Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Fijian Ambassador to Indonesia Amenatave Yauvoli discussed efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and recent developments in the Pacific region during a courtesy visit in Jakarta on Tuesday (25/3/2025).
“Fiji plays a crucial role as Indonesia’s key partner in strengthening cooperation in the Pacific,” Minister Sugiono said in a written release following the meeting, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to development cooperation with Fiji, particularly through programs such as the Indonesia Aid Scholarship, the Darmasiswa Scholarship, and the Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship.
The minister also highlighted the importance of boosting trade relations and invited Fijian companies to participate in the upcoming Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in October this year.
Beyond bilateral ties, Indonesia and Fiji also collaborate in regional forums, including the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), where Indonesia holds associate membership, and the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), where Indonesia serves as a dialogue partner.
