Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced on Tuesday (25/3/2025) that Indonesia has decided to join the New Development Bank (NDB), a multilateral development bank established by BRICS nations.

The decision follows an official invitation from NDB President Dilma Vana Rousseff, recognizing Indonesia’s recent status as a full BRICS member as of early 2025.

“We have assessed this with our financial team, and after thorough discussions, the Indonesian government has decided to join the NDB,” President Prabowo stated in a joint press conference with Rousseff at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The NDB, founded a decade ago, primarily funds sustainable development projects and supports the economies of emerging nations. The bank initially had a $100 billion capital base, contributed by its founding members.

During their 1.5-hour meeting, Prabowo and Rousseff discussed short, medium, and long-term cooperation between Indonesia and NDB. The president noted significant similarities between Indonesia and Brazil in their economic experiences and development priorities.
