Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) President Director Iman Rachman announced his resignation on Friday (20/1/2026), citing accountability for the recent extreme volatility in the domestic capital market.
The announcement came after a turbulent week where the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) suffered a historic single-day plunge of 7.35% due to transparency concerns and passive fund rebalancing.
"I am stepping down as President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange as a form of responsibility for the events of the past two days," Iman said during a press briefing at the BEI Media Center, as reported by antaranews.com
He expected that his departure would foster market stability and allow for necessary institutional reforms. Despite his exit, the IHSG showed signs of recovery Friday morning, opening up 1.08%.
According to the exchange’s articles of association, an acting chief will be appointed shortly to manage operations until a definitive successor is named. The resignation showed a critical turning point as financial authorities moved to restore international investor confidence and address transparency mandates.
