Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia is not at risk of experiencing a monetary crisis like the one that occurred in 1997–1998, the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) said.
Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, said during a press conference on Saturday (31/5/2025) that early warning mechanisms and tight coordination through the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) are in place to safeguard the economy.
“LPS has developed an early warning system that monitors our economy in detail over time, including the health of the banking sector. So I believe the chance of being caught off guard is very small,” he said, as quoted by antara news.com.
Purbaya added that the KSSK, composed of the Finance Ministry, Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and LPS, holds regular meetings to assess economic risks and formulate coordinated responses.
Tools such as early intervention and real-time reporting are part of the government’s crisis prevention strategy.
