Indonesian Embassy Rescues Kidnapped Indonesian in Penang

Inp.polri.go.id - Kuala Lumpur. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia has rescued an Indonesian national, identified as Mrs. F, who had been kidnapped and tortured in the Penang region. "Through cooperation involving the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Consulate General in Penang , and  the Malaysian Police, Ms. F was rescued on September 15, 2023," said Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, in a statement on Sunday (24/9/2023). He revealed that the Embassy initiated an immediate probe and reported the case to the Malaysian Police following a complaint on September 14 of Ms. F being abducted and subjected to torture. The investigation by the Malaysian Police corroborated that the incident transpired within the Penang region.  Further inquiries led the police to solicit Ms. F's assistance in identifying the alleged perpetrators. Out of the 13 individuals presented by law enforcement, Ms. F was able to identify 10 suspects. On September 22, the Malaysian Police transferred Ms. F to the care of the Consulate General in Penang, where she now resides safely in their shelter. Presently, Ms. F is reported to be in stable condition and is undergoing a recovery process for her injuries. The Consulate General in Penang has reaffirmed its commitment to providing continued support to Ms. F while overseeing the legal proceedings in Malaysia. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
