Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs  considered Malaysia’s investigation into the fatal shooting of Indonesian migrant workers to be comprehensive.

“The investigation has been conducted thoroughly regarding our citizens,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the MinisteryI, in Deli Serdang, Wednesday (12/2/2025).

The incident occurred on 24 January 2025, when Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) officers opened fire in Tanjung Rhu, Selangor, killing Basri and injuring three others. Victor Maruli Tua Simaremare (39) later died due to his injuries on 4 February 2025

Six APMM officers involved have been relieved of duty and face charges under Malaysia’s Firearms Act 1960.

Judha said that the Foreign Ministry continues to monitor the legal process, emphasizing that while the workers violated local laws, Malaysian authorities must ensure due process.
