Inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The government of Jayapura City spreads the 11 kilometer Red and White Flag and breaks the Indonesian MURI record for the longest flag display.
“This is by far the longest. Previously it was held by Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi for displaying the 7.8 flag in Tiapa Beach, Laloso,” said the Marketing Director of MURI, Awan Rahargo on Wednesday (5/1/2024).
For this achievement, Awan also felt proud because the new record for displaying the Indonesian flag was held in the easternmost part of the country during the day when Papua finally annexed Indonesia.
“This also shows that Papua has the commitment and demonstrates its burning spirit. We are proud that this record breaking attempt is held in the easternmost part of the country,” convey Awan.
The Acting Regent of Jayapura City, Frans Pekei says that the achievement is thanks to the collaboration of the whole community, from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, community organizations, and others.
“I appreciate all the hard work that you did and this became the pride for us all,” said Frans.
