inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his support for the proposal that labor activist Marsinah be appointed as a National Hero representing the workers.

This was conveyed during his speech commemorating International Workers' Day (May Day) at Monas Field, Central Jakarta, in response to aspirations conveyed by labor union leaders.

The President emphasized his commitment to fully support if all labor leaders agree with the proposal of naming Marsinah as the National Hero.

"As long as all labor leaders represent the workers, I will support Marsinah becoming a National Hero," he emphasized.

Marsinah is a labor activist who is known to be persistent in fighting for workers' rights in Indonesia.

Born on April 10, 1969 in Nganjuk, East Java, she worked as a laborer in a watch factory in Sidoarjo. Marsinah actively led protests to demand wage increases and improvements in working conditions.

In early May 1993, she took part in a strike with her colleagues. After being active in various actions, Marsinah was found dead on May 8, 1993.

Her name is now remembered as a symbol of steadfastness and courage in fighting for justice for workers, and every International Labor Day, her spirit of struggle continues to be kept alive by various groups.
