"We know that our target range for inflation is the target of the central government, which is between 1.5 and 3.5 percent. If we can manage it at that figure, then we can maintain the balance," he said on Friday (12/6/2024).

In his statement, he said that if inflation falls below 1.5 percent, consumers will benefit from affordable prices. However, producers such as farmers and fishermen may have difficulty covering operational costs.

On the other hand, inflation above 3.5 percent can please producers because the price of goods increases. However, it burdens the poor who are vulnerable to increases in the price of basic necessities.

He emphasized that Indonesia is different from Singapore which is only a consumer country. Indonesia has many producers, such as factories, farmers, and fishermen, so inflation must be balanced.

Previously, inflation in November was recorded at 1.55 percent annually. This figure is down compared to inflation in October which reached 1.71 percent.
