Karubaga – Papuan kids is becoming a priority for the Noken Community Development Unit (Binmas Noken) of the Indonesian National Police because not all regions in Papua is accessible by land. Therefore, the Indonesian National Police structure, especially Binmas Noken, that could reach the remote villages in Papua, is set to conduct SI IPAR (Polisi Pi Ajar) programme. There are many forms of SI IPAR implementations, such as the Tolikara region with their SI IPAR KULA ULA Programme.
KULA, in the Lani language, is a nickname for girls. ULA, in the Lani language, is a nickname for boys. The KULA ULA programme in SI IPAR stands for "Direct Visit for Lani Children".
Just like the KULA ULA conducted by Police Inspector 1st Class Widada, Police Brigadier Petrus Hamokwarong, Police Brigadier 1st Class Jordan P Bonay, Police Chief Brigadier Esau Wenda, and Police Brigadier 1st Class Angga Haryanto. On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 09.00 a.m., in the Kemala Reading Garden of Kolengger village, Karubaga district.
The material presented in that event are as follows:
Fostering a love for the homeland by singing Indonesia Raya national anthem
Fostering patriotism to defend the motherland by reading the story of the heroes
Teaching drawing and colouring of Papua's endemic animals to introduce protected animals such as Bird-of-Paradise
Teaching kids about togetherness and emphatic and also respecting each other and reminding them that people should help each other in daily life.
In the middle of educating, there are also small gifts giving for the kids who are brave enough to show and able to answer the questions to appreciate and motivate them. The event was finished by 11.30 a.m.
KULA ULA is hoped to accustom kids to act politely to everyone, mainly older people, and respect their friends.
Besides that, kids are also being hoped to know and understand the Indonesia Raya national anthem. That Indonesia has a red-and-white flag as its national flag and the Garuda bird as its coat-of-arms.
Another benefit of this event is to accustom the kids to socialise, cooperate, and help each other so the presence of the Police, as the older brother who protects and teach, make the kids not afraid of the Police. This event is also hoped to be a positive activity to monitor early age children development in education, mainly the extracurricular activities.
