Inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police medical team and local healthcare providers from Flores Timur and Sikka delivered medical support on Wednesday (13/11/2024) to evacuees affected by Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki's eruption.
Healthcare services are available at six designated shelters to ensure evacuees' medical needs are met.
The relief centers, located in Konga, Bokang, Lewolaga, Lewoingu, Kanada, and Ile Gerong villages, are providing humanitarian assistance, with a focus on healthcare. Medical personnel are addressing typical health issues such as coughs, colds, and respiratory infections, which are common in emergency shelter settings.
Led by Second Inspector Yustinus D. Ferry Sonneville, the medical team is also offering guidance on maintaining physical and mental well-being during this crisis, emphasizing hygiene practices and ways to stay resilient.
To mitigate health risks from volcanic ash, the team is distributing masks, particularly to those without access.
"Mask use is crucial, and we support government efforts to safeguard public health in the aftermath of the eruption,” said Chief Yustinus.
