The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo highlighted that public trust in the police has increased due to strengthened internal unity, with the institution achieving a positive public image of 73.1% in the July 2024 Kompas Research and Development Center survey.
He explained that the collective commitment to restoring public confidence has placed the police back among the top three trusted institutions.
"On 1 July 2024, we reached 73 percent, which put us in third place," Chief Sigit said in a statement on Wednesday (13/11/2024).
He made this comment after leading a farewell ceremony for General (ret.) Agus Andrianto, General (ret.) Purwadi Arianto, and General (ret.) Suntana, as well as a promotion ceremony for INP Deputy Chief Commissioner General Ahmad Dofiri at the Police Academy (STIK) in Jakarta.
Chief Sigit reflected on the challenging times the police faced when public trust was at a low point but praised the efforts of senior officers like Minister Agus Andrianto, whose leadership helped navigate those difficult periods.
The farewell and promotion ceremony, attended by senior police officers from across the country, was marked by the traditional sword procession, better known as pedang pora, to honor those completing their service.
