inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Irine Yusiana Roba said that the parliaments of the countries attending the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) or the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (PUIC) in 2025, agreed to be “more vocal" in voicing Palestinian independence.

She said that all forms of military aggression that occur in Palestine must be stopped immediately. According to her, the Speaker of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of Parliament from the OIC countries agreed with the resolution that Indonesia had drafted to continue to fight together for Palestinian independence.

"Indonesia ensures that it will always walk with the Palestinian people to gain their independence," said Irine on the sidelines of the 2025 PUIC Conference at the parliamentary complex, quoted by Antaranews, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/14/2025).

She explained that the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, had received confirmation of her chairmanship as President of the Organization of Parliaments of OIC Countries.

Irene believes that the chairmanship will have a significant and drastic impact because it is very prestigious. With that status, Indonesia will be able to play an important role in resolving the conflict in Palestine, as well as other areas involving the Muslim community.

"This reaffirms that Indonesia is considered to have a very important role in responding to global challenges that are also experienced by OIC countries," she said.

Under the Indonesian leadership, OIC agreed to be more vocal in voicing the independence of Palestine as their independence was not only the goal of foreign affairs mission, but also mandated by the Constitution.

“We will show to the world that OIC has the capabilities and power to bring changes in the world order,” says Irene.
