inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ombudsman, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower and several local governments, is holding a 2026 Religious THR Post ahead of the Eid al-Fitr bonus (THR) payment.
Ombudsman member Robert Na Endi Jaweng stated that the post is a form of public service oversight in the employment sector through unannounced inspections of companies, institutional coordination, and oversight of complaint resolution as a preventative measure and to prevent maladministration in the distribution of workers' bonus.
"As a state institution overseeing public services, the Ombudsman also encourages the public who experience or witness maladministration in the payment of Eid al-Fitr bonus to report it to us," explained Robert on Monday (2/23/2026).
He assessed that oversight of Eid bonus payments for private sector employees remains suboptimal, as 652 complaints from workers regarding maladministration in THR distribution have not been fully resolved by the government between 2023 and 2025.
To prevent similar issues from recurring in the lead-up to the 2026 THR payments, the Ombudsman requested that the Ministry of Manpower and regional governments develop a comprehensive oversight framework and follow up on complaints consistently and thoroughly.
Robert stated that follow-up measures could range from resolving outstanding complaints from previous years to addressing the root causes of systemic problems to prevent recurrence.
In following up on complaints, the Ministry of Manpower and regional governments must enforce sanctions against companies that fail to comply with the Eid allowance payments.
He stated that corporate non-compliance is a systemic problem that recurs annually. Therefore, in addition to enforcing sanctions, the government needs to collaborate to develop anticipatory measures to address potential non-compliance, particularly in industrial areas such as Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Banten.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Manpower and regional governments need to strengthen the capacity of labor inspectors, as the quality, quantity, and integrity of supervisory personnel are crucial factors in ensuring worker protection.
"In addition to additional personnel, a systematic process is also needed to improve the supervisors' ability to enforce THR payment norms for companies," explained Member Robert.
