Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Tanjung Priok Port Sub-regional Police launched a daily enforcement operation at Muara Angke Port on Thursday (29/1/2026) to address severe vessel congestion hindering maritime mobility.
Coordination with fisheries authorities revealed that the harbor, designed for 1,000 vessels, is currently overwhelmed by 2,564 ships, causing a dangerous logistical bottleneck for local fishermen.
"Orderly enforcement is conducted daily to ensure ship mobility remains functional and public security stays conducive amidst this saturation," said Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief Superintendent Aris Wibowo, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Beyond the 250% capacity surge, investigators identified slow fuel refueling and abandoned "ghost ships" as primary causes of the gridlock. Officers are now clearing transit lanes and ordering crews to vacate refueling docks immediately after service to stabilize essential supply chains and mitigate potential conflicts among sailors struggling for limited space.
