Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the Bali International Hospital (BIH) on Wednesday (25/6/2025), marking a major step toward transforming Indonesia into a regional medical hub.
“This is a breakthrough, a great achievement that enables us to provide healthcare services on par with the best abroad,” he said in his speech, streamed by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.
Developed on 41.26 hectares in Denpasar, the SEZ aims to reduce outbound medical tourism by offering world-class care in cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics. The hospital, operating since April 2025, already serves local and international patients.
President Prabowo credited former President Joko Widodo for initiating the project and emphasized health as a pillar of national welfare. The SEZ is expected to attract Rp10.2 trillion in investment, create 43,647 jobs, and retain Rp86 trillion in domestic healthcare spending by 2045.
