“After initial examination, no signs of life were found,” said SAR Mataram Chief Muhamad Hariyadi on Tuesday evening (25/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com
Her body was wrapped and prepared for evacuation by foot and helicopter to Bhayangkara Hospital for further handling.
West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal extended his condolences to the victim’s family.
“On behalf of the people and the West Nusa Tenggara administration, we offer our deepest sympathy. May the family find strength and peace,” said the West Nusa Tenggara administration spokesperson Yusron Hadi.
The governor also thanked the SAR team’s dedication, which included overnight camps and rappelling into the ravine. The evacuation route includes a difficult ascent to the surface before transport to the base camp at Sembalun.
The victim, identified as Juliana Marins, was found dead by rescue teams at a depth of 600 meters on Tuesday after falling into a ravine on Saturday. The rescue operation, involving SAR teams, police, and military, was delayed by harsh weather and poor visibility.
