Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed their commitment to strong economic and trade cooperation following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs targeting countries including Indonesia and the EU.

In a phone call on Friday night, the two leaders agreed to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth. 

“We agreed to continue advancing inclusive and sustainable economic development for the welfare of the people,” said President Prabowo in his social media post on Saturday (5/4/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

President Macron echoed this sentiment, saying via social media, “We have decided to strengthen ties between our countries with ambitious, forward-looking projects.”

He also confirmed plans for a state visit to Indonesia in late May. The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in defense, economy, science, culture, and education, while prioritizing resilient value chains and energy transition.

They also voiced support for peace in the Middle East and ending the Russia–Ukraine war.
