inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani held a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament's Tan Sri Dato' Johari bin Abdul and invited the Malaysian parliament together with the DPR to become the driving force in the solidarity of Muslim countries.

"As fellow leaders of parliamentary institutions, I hope that we can become the driving force in strengthening the solidarity of Muslim countries," said Puan in her statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The bilateral meeting with the Malaysian Parliament Speaker was held on the sidelines of the 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference where the DPR acted as the host.

In the meeting, Puan congratulated Malaysia, which in 2025 will serve as Chair of ASEAN.

She stated that she supports the theme raised by Malaysia, namely 'Inclusivity and Sustainability'.

"I believe that Malaysia can carry out its mandate and duties well as the Chair of ASEAN this year," said Puan.

She hopes that Indonesia and Malaysia can work together in creating an environment where all ASEAN countries can fully participate in economic growth and social development.

Puan also hopes that the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia can be even closer. Not only in the fields of politics and security, but also in the economic and social sectors.

"I hope that Indonesia and Malaysia can improve their cooperation to strengthen the defense and security of both countries. Strengthening this cooperation is not only important for the interests of both countries, but also for the interests of regional stability," explained Puan.
