Inp.polri.go.id - Pacitan. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) confirmed that a shallow tectonic earthquake in Pacitan, East Java, and parts of Central Java, triggered by subduction activity in the megathrust zone.
BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Director Daryono said on Saturday (11/1/2025) that the quake, with a magnitude of 4.9, occurred at a depth of 29 km, located 79 km southwest of Pacitan (coordinates 8.88° S; 110.97° E).
The tremor was felt in various regions, including Pacitan, Trenggalek, Ponorogo, and Malang in East Java, as well as Klaten, Yogyakarta, and Surakarta in Central Java, with an intensity of II-III MMI.
"This earthquake does not pose a tsunami risk," Daryono said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
As of 2.45 pm, one aftershock was recorded, with no reported damages.
