inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Acting Director of Strategic and Digital Government Policy, Teguh Arifiyadi, says that the Communication and Digital Ministry is planning to devise a special regulation of social media use for the children.

In his statement, he reveals that at least there are three aspects that can be focused on drafting regulations on the use of social media among children. One of them is determining the age group of children who can use social media.

“There are several parts in drafting the regulations to protect the children from social media. The first is determining the age limits on what age they can use social media,” says Teguh on Tuesday (1/21/2025).

He said, in limiting the age of children accessing social media have been done by a number of countries in the world with an age limit of 9-17 years. 

Then, for the second part is limiting the use of social media for children, it will be done through security features on social media.

And lastly, the third part is the restriction, namely in the form of providing a reporting feature. He explained this, in order to facilitate follow-up of misuse of social media activities by children.

"Secondly, there are also data security features for children. Third, there is an obligation for organizers to prepare a reporting mechanism in the event of misuse of features or misuse of content involving children," he concluded.
