inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of State-owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, says the state-owned airlines will add more planes as Eid 2025 looms.

This step is taken considering the domestic airline market is huge, comparable to those of China and the United States.

According to him, airlines such as Pelita Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Citilink are ready to add to their fleet.

"Pelita Air and Garuda have reported their plans to add more aircraft," he said on Tuesday (1/21/2025).

He stated that all of this will be optimized to support the upcoming huge flow of domestic passengers.

Erick also conveyed that the ideal need for domestic flights is 750 aircraft. However, the current available fleet only reaches 410 aircraft.

Therefore, the addition of the aircraft fleet is very much needed. "We will continue to seek new aircraft for the needs of the community," he explained.

Other than adding the aircraft fleet, the government will also increase the frequency of flights during the 2025 Eid homecoming period, "such as operating the airport for 24 hours," he said.

In his closing statement, he emphasized that the success of the 2024-2025 Christmas and New Year transportation services must be a reference in organizing Eid transportation.
