Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Prayer, effort and hard work will definitely pay off. This expression was successfully proven by Richard Daddy Balli Leba Ari. The 2021 Police Academy (Akpol) cadet candidate from Regional Committee of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, won the first rank for the 2021 Police Academy graduation which was announced Wednesday (06/23).
Richard was accompanied by his mother, Lucia Puting at the temporary graduation announcement. For the past four months, Richard and his mother live in rental house at RSS Liliba housing complex, South Oesapa Sub-District, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City.
Lusia, who is state civil apparatus at the Environmental Agency of West Sumba Regency, asked permition from her duties to accompany her son Richard to the Police Academy selection process in Kupang. Fortunately, Lusia got permission from her supervisor.
Since the first grade at Waikabubak Christian High School, Richard focussed on his study. Since childhood, Richard has aspired to be police officer from the Akpol line. "I was inspired when I saw Police Academy on social media and television. I’ve determined to be like them," he said.
After school, he exercised regularly. Between his exercise, Richard also spends time to help his father on the farm. Richard is the eldest of five children, a son of the couple Lele Leba Ari –a farmer and Lusi Puting –low-class vicil servant. As the eldest child, many responsibilities are imposed on him by his parents. So Richard wanted to set an example for his four younger siblings, by keeping practicing and self-taught.
"I'm trying to find literature on the internet about psychology and academic questions for the Police Academy entrance exam. Also, I learned the methods and tips for physical exam by myself," Richard explained.
Towards the final high school exam, Richard registered as candidate for the Academy cadet at West Sumba Regional Police. Although he felt difficult at the first time, he had determination to try his best, by staying away from cigarettes and liquor. He was proud when he passed the first stage of medical test. He also did not expect to pass the psychological test even though with a score of 68. This score is far below some of his other colleagues.
Before the academic exam, he must try his best. The time available is used as well as possible to study the subjects of general knowledge, national insight, mathematics and Indonesian language exams. He also bought number of textbooks from bookstores, to increase his knowledge ahead of academic exams. The results and efforts are fruitful. He achieved the highest marks in the field of academic examinations. He also managed to pass the stage II health examination.
During the physical exam, Richard once again tried his best with knowledge and tips he learned by himself. In the physical field, Richard is in the second place but he is still optimistic that he qualify. He did not expect the results of his efforts and hard work over the past three years would produce such encouraging results.
"I did not expect this result. So far I have studied independently," he said.
Richard was determined to keep trying hard and to maintain his health during the examination process at the central level, because he had to undergo series of selections, starting from administrative examination, medical examination, psychological interview, to deepen the PMK. Furthermore, academic tests include TPA (potential academic test) and English with the CAT system, as well as examinations for appearances or parade.
He hopes his efforts and hard work will be successful.
"I hope to be successful and become an example and inspiration for other children in West Sumba Regency," Richard said.
Richard thanked the Chief of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Police Inspector General Lotharia Latif, Head of Human Resource Bureau, Police Grand Commissioner Wisnu Widarto and Human Resource Bureau of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, who carried out the recruitment in a clean, humanist and transparent. Result of the selection were directly submitted.
