Inp.polri.go.id - Bandarlampung. The Army’s Military Police Deputy Commander, Major General Eka Wijaya Permana, announced on Tuesday (25/3/2025) that two Army soldiers have been named suspects in the recent fatal shooting of three police officers and an illegal cockfighting operation in Way Kanan, Lampung.

Second Corporal Basarsyah and Chief Warrant Officer Yohanes Lubis were formally charged following a joint investigation by the Lampung Regional Police and the Sriwijaya Military Command.

Corporal Basarsyah admitted to the shooting and later discarded the weapon, which was recovered on 19 March 2025, according to antaranews.com.

He faces life imprisonment under Articles 340 and 338 of the Criminal Code. Officer Lubis, involved in illegal gambling, faces up to 10 years under Article 303 of the Criminal Code.

Their arrests followed a police report on 22 March 2025, leading to their formal detention and indictment on Monday. The case emerged from a 17 March 2025 police raid on the illegal cockfighting ring.
