inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The panel of judges at the Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara, sentenced Suhaeli and Heri to 18 years in prison each, the defendants in the murder of Spanish citizen Maria Matilda Munoz Cazorla.

"The judge sentences defendant Suhaeli and defendant Heri to 18 years in prison each," said Chief Judge Kelik Trimargo during the sentencing hearing at the Mataram District Court on Wednesday.

The panel of judges imposed the sentences in accordance with the prosecutor's demands, stating that the two defendants were proven to have violated the first alternative charge under Article 459 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code.

"The two defendants have been proven to have jointly committed the premeditated murder of the victim Maria Matilda Munoz Cazorla," he said.

The judges' considerations for imposing these sentences were based on the facts revealed during the trial, including testimony from witnesses, experts, and evidence presented before the panel of judges.

In line with the prosecutor's demands, the fulfillment of the criminal element of premeditated murder relates to the two defendants' initial intention to steal the victim's valuables.

Maria Matilda's body was found buried on the coast of the Senggigi area, West Lombok Regency, approximately one month after she was murdered by the two perpetrators in early July 2025.

The whereabouts of Maria Matilda's body were discovered after police arrested the two perpetrators through tracking of the victim's pawned cell phone in West Lombok.
