inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto encouraged the Banda Aceh City Government to build a strong and comprehensive ecosystem to support its new identity as a Perfume City.

He conveyed this while attending the Seminar and Workshop (Semiloka) Road to Launching Banda Aceh Perfume City at BSI Landmark Aceh, Aceh, Friday (5/23/2025).

"Branding is changing the logo, holding a competition, then using a tagline, and continuing to be enthusiastic. It's not that simple," said Bima in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

In his statement, Bima emphasized the importance of building an authentic and sustainable city narrative. He gave examples of several cities in Indonesia and abroad, such as Bogor, Banyuwangi, and Grasse in France, which have succeeded in elevating local strengths to become global identities.

According to him, to realize Banda Aceh as a Perfume City, a long-term strategy is needed that goes beyond the term of office of the current regional head.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of building an ecosystem that involves all elements, from the government, society, business actors, to academics. He also highlighted the need for public education, regional planning, waste management, and strengthening the character of residents in supporting the city's image.

"Now how do we provide the proper education so that people here connect with the branding as a Perfume City," said Bima.

Bima also appreciated the initial steps taken by the Banda Aceh City Government. He hopes that this event can strengthen Banda Aceh's image as the Veranda of Mecca as well as a world-class Perfume City.
